Making Money from Blogging is Easy

Monetize with CPC or CPM ads.

One of the most common ways for bloggers to make money is by placing ads on their site. There are two popular types of ads:

CPC/PPC ads: Cost-per-click ads (also called pay-per-click ads) are usually banners that you place in your content or sidebar. Each time a reader clicks on the ad, you get paid for that click.

CPM ads: CPM or "cost per 1,000 impressions" are ads that pay you a fixed amount based on how many people see your ad.

Probably the most popular network for these types of ads is Google AdSense. With this program, you do not have to contact advertisers directly; you simply place the banner on your website, Google selects the ads that are relevant to your content, and your visitors click on the ads. If you find that AdSense is not suitable for you, there are countless similar programs such as Chitika, Infolinks and Media.net.

Sell private ads

Working with ad networks is not your only option when it comes to selling ads. If you have enough traffic, advertisers can contact you directly and ask you to place their ads on your website. You can also contact advertisers yourself. The biggest difference with the above options is that there is no middleman, which means you can set your own ad rates.

Selling private ads can be in the form of banners, buttons or links. You can even earn money by writing sponsored posts where you write about or review an advertiser's product or service. Another option is to write a post or series where you can write about any topic, but the advertiser pays for a mention in the content ("Brought to you by").

The way you make money from this can vary. For example, you can charge a one-time fee for a link in a post. If you host banner ads, you can charge your affiliate a monthly fee.

Bonus tip: To maximize your income, you can also sell sponsorship spots in your email newsletters (here are the 5 best email marketing programs), podcasts and videos.

Include affiliate links in your content

Affiliate marketing is another great tool for monetizing your blog. Learn how affiliate marketing works here:

An advertiser has a product he wants to sell. He agrees to pay you a commission for each sale if the buyer comes from your site.

He gives you a unique link that tracks your affiliate code. This way, it knows when a buyer has made a purchase through your link.

You add your affiliate link to your website. You can do this directly in the content or through banner ads. When a reader clicks on your unique link and buys the product you recommended, you get a percentage of the purchase price.

You can use affiliate marketing through advertising networks like Amazon Associates or form private partnerships with advertisers and businesses with an affiliate program.

Sell digital products

If you do not want to promote someone else's products on your website, or if you are looking for another revenue stream, consider selling digital products. These can include items such as:

eBooks

Online courses/workshops

Images, videos or music that you can use in your own content

Apps, plugins or themes

Just remember that if you choose one of these avenues, make it relevant and useful to your readers. Many bloggers make the mistake of assuming that they are developing a product that their readers need. Listen to your readers first and then develop a digital product that meets their needs.

Use it as a content marketing tool for your business.

It's also possible to sell physical products through your blog and make money that way. However, do not think of your blog as a means to make money, but as a content marketing tool that drives traffic to your business website.

The possibilities are practically endless when it comes to developing a business blog. You could sell handmade products, books, industrial products, and more. Or you already have a business and decide to start a blog to attract loyal customers.
