It's also worth noting that many public schools are located in some of the most expensive cities, or at least the rents are often outrageously high, requiring you to sleep with 3-4 people in a room - yikes!

Another advantage of a private college, especially a smaller one that focuses on its major, is that it prioritizes alumni relations because of alumni donations. What this means for you as a prospective student is that it could pay off later to attend a school where you are a name, not just a social security number or student identification number.
