Mental peace Tips: Bhaktamar MantraHealing

Tips for more Mental peace /inner peace in your life March 21 is known as the World Day of Inner Peace. A nice initiative to have a school day dedicated to world peace, where students can experience inner peace themselves through meditation.

It was created to spread the message of peace in some of the most troubled areas of the world: Refugee camps, occupied territories, and places ravaged by war. Places where inner (and outer) peace is a great challenge.

Inner peace, however, is something we all seem to seek, regardless of where we come from or what situation we find ourselves in.

What is inner peace?

Let's start with a definition of the term. Inner peace is the state of calmness that one feels within oneself. It's an attainable state of mind that has everything to do with how you feel inside, not what is happening around you.

Peace is the most natural state we're in. If we don't regularly return to our heart and inner stillness, we're most likely constantly overstimulated, hyperactive, exhausted, or even burned out. The world around us can be stressful and chaotic, but if you try to stay calm in every situation, inner peace will be more your default mode.

What can you do to find more inner peace?

The first step to inner peace is to be open to it. To believe that it's possible to achieve it, even though you may think you can't because your mind keeps going in circles. Just trust that every action you take will bring you one (small) step further.

Here are tips that will help you on your way.

1. Meditate

Meditation is about mental stillness. It's the practice of quieting the mind to connect with the present moment and to observe and accept whatever is happening within you and around you.

In daily life, our minds are constantly thinking. To-do lists, what's for dinner, what we did and what we could have done differently... We're constantly thinking about something. And while meditation isn't about stopping thinking, it's an effective way to take a break from the outside world and observe what is going on inside you, whether it's pleasant or unpleasant. In a state of mental and emotional calm, you learn to simply observe and acknowledge things as they're, which helps to achieve a measure of peace in life.

2. Take a break from social media

This may sound like a no-brainer, but most of us are glued to our screens all day. If there's one big cause that disturbs inner peace, it's social media. Social media can trigger the fear that we're not living our best life when we compare ourselves to the stories and posts of friends or famous people. That alone will disturb your inner peace.

In addition, research has shown that prolonged presence on social media can cause physiological changes in the brain. It decreases our ability to focus our attention on a particular topic and makes us addicted to our screens, as our bodies release dopamine (the happy hormone) every time we post something or receive a notification from an app. Studies show that the brain scans of heavy social media users are very similar to those of drug or gambling addicts.

So it's a good idea to get away from your phone more often if you want to keep your inner peace.

3. Practice breath work

Think of your breathing as a remote control for your autonomic nervous system. When you change your breathing, you change your state of mind in just a few seconds!

Feeling stressed or anxious? Controlled, slow breathing triggers our body's relaxation response, slowing the heart rate, relaxing the muscles, calming the nerves and quieting the mind. Just sit down, close your eyes and breathe in and out slowly from your belly for a while. You'll soon notice how you become calm.

Breathing is one of the fastest and most effective ways to achieve inner peace. Do you need help? We're here for you, because moonbird is specially designed to guide you in slow breathing exercises to find more inner peace.

4. Be kind to the world around you (and to yourself)

If you make a conscious effort to be kind to the people around you, you'll always feel better. When you focus on the good, the good will come back to you, and you'll quickly notice that you're calmer because your mind pays less attention to the things that cause you grief.

If you're going through a stressful time, try to do something good every day. Help others, but don't forget about yourself in the process! In general, the world will be more peaceful if you're kind to yourself. Do things that make you happy and lift your mood. Love, to yourself and to others, is the key to a life with more inner peace.

5. Take a walk in nature

There is something so beautiful about nature. Not only because it's beautiful in the truest sense of the word, but also because your sense of well-being improves immediately when you spend time in nature.

6. Laugh as much as you can

Laughter is the best medicine because it works for practically everything. Laughter strengthens the immune system, lowers stress hormones, relieves pain, relaxes muscles, prevents heart disease, brings joy and zest for life, reduces anxiety and tension, relieves stress, improves mood, strengthens resilience, strengthens relationships, promotes group cohesion, and helps defuse conflicts.

Inner peace is never achieved if you take your life too seriously. Yes, life can be stressful and challenging and take unexpected turns, but the invitation is to always discover the joy and beauty of life.

When you're going through a tough time and your mind is testing you, find things that make you smile. A funny movie, an evening with friends, a dance in the living room: whatever is good for you.

7. Express yourself

Inner peace is both the foundation and the breeding ground for creativity. Expressing yourself and making art of any kind improves your well-being. It's one of the most mindful things you can do because you focus only on what you're doing, pay attention to every detail, and get into a flow state where you don't notice time passing.

Whether you're making music, painting a picture, or painting a chair: The creative process calms your mind and diverts your attention from pain and anxiety to something beautiful.

Think you're not creative? Wrong. Everyone is creative by nature. And you don't have to become a Picasso to make art. Just do it and trust the process (not the result).

8. Practice mindfulness every day

Mindfulness is a state of clear presence or peace of mind that enriches your life. You can achieve this by focusing on yourself through meditation. You don't necessarily have to close your eyes and sit still to practice mindfulness. Why not try being mindful with your eyes open as often as you can?

At any point in the day, you can bring your attention back to the present moment. A mind that is at peace is in the here and now, not obsessively thinking about the past and the future. What can you do? Every time you feel a thought or feeling coming up, try to bring your attention to, for example, your breathing, your body sensations, or what you're doing (sipping your coffee, for example).

Try to be as mindful as possible and allow your mind to come into harmony with the present moment. True peace always arises in the now.
