Vastu Purush is considered the main deity of the building. According to Vastu Shastra, Vastu Purush is situated facing down on the ground. Adhomukha means their face is towards the ground and their back is upwards. The head is in the northeast direction i.e. in the northeast direction, and the feet are in the southwest angle i.e. in the southwest direction. Thus his arms are in the east and north.
